Weekly Sleep Diary
Your first step to get the data you need about your sleep

Tracking Your Progress: The SynapReset Weekly Sleep Diary
An integral component of evidence-based insomnia therapy is accurately understanding your unique sleep architecture. Rather than relying on automated wearable trackers—which can sometimes increase sleep- related anxiety—the SynapReset Weekly Sleep Diary is a specialized, clinically validated tool designed to capture your subjective sleep patterns in real time.
The Purpose of a Sleep Diary
The primary objective of this diary is to establish an accurate baseline of your current sleep habits and track how your sleep improves throughout your therapy. By charting your sleep daily, we can look past isolated “bad nights” and instead analyze weekly trends. This data allows us to precisely calculate your Sleep Efficiency—the actual percentage of time you spend asleep while in bed—which serves as the foundational metric for tailoring your personalized sleep reset strategy.
What the Diary Tracks
The diary uses a clean, intuitive timeline grid that allows you to easily log key sleep metrics without needing to look at a clock during the night:

How to Use Sleep Diary
Using the diary is simple and takes less than two minutes a day:
1. Morning Entry: Each morning, complete the row for the previous night. Estimate your times subjectively—there is no need to watch the clock if you wake up.
2. Mark Your Boundaries: Use a down-arrow (↓) for getting into bed, a cross (X) for attempting sleep, a continuous line for sleep blocks, and an up-arrow (↑) for your final morning rise. Please mark any caffeine intake with a letter C and any sleep medication with a letter M.
3. Weekly Summary: At the end of the seven days, the daily totals are averaged to determine your clinical Sleep Efficiency percentage, giving us a clear, mathematical picture of your progress.
Your Subjective Experience Matters: In professional sleep therapy, how you perceive your sleep is far more clinically valuable than the data from a smart watch. This diary is the first step toward reclaiming control, retraining your brain, and resetting your circadian rhythm.

What is Next? Understanding Your Results
Once you have tracked your sleep for the week and calculated your average Sleep Efficiency score, you have successfully mapped out your baseline sleep pattern. This percentage provides the vital clinical insight needed to guide the next phase of your treatment.
Sleep Efficiency Guidelines: What Your Score Means
In professional sleep therapy, we evaluate your score using the following evidence-based benchmarks:
Below 85% — Room for Realignment: A score in this range means a significant portion of your time in bed is spent awake, tossing and turning, or waiting to fall asleep. This dynamic often conditions the brain to associate the bed with frustration rather than rest. Don’t be discouraged—this is the classic baseline for chronic insomnia, and it gives us a clear, measurable starting point for your circadian reset.
85% to 90% — The Optimal Window: This is our primary clinical target. It represents a highly efficient, consolidated sleep pattern where your time in bed closely aligns with your actual sleep capacity.
Above 90% — Highly Consolidated Sleep: While this indicates excellent sleep efficiency , if you are still experiencing daytime fatigue or if your overall Total Sleep Time (TST) is very low it may suggest that your current sleep window is overly restricted
Ready to Reset Your Sleep?
Your sleep diary is more than just data—it is the foundational blueprint for retraining your brain and reclaiming control over your nights. Interpreting these patterns and translating them into a personalized, lasting solution is exactly what we do next.
If your sleep efficiency is below where you want it to be, or if you are ready to transition from tracking your insomnia to actively curing it, let’s take the next step together.
